Wo Stadt ist, ist immer auch Klang: Die Installation eines fiktiven Kiezes mit all seinen Facetten, erschaffen aus gefundenen Gegenständen, obskuren Instrumenten und Klangerzeugern aller Art, sorgte auf dem letzten Festival für Selbstgebaute Musik für Eindruck. Nun können die Berliner*innen zwei Tage lang eine noch weiter ausgearbeitete Version des Originals genießen.
Ein Erlebnis für alle Fans dreidimensionaler Wimmelbilder. Und: fantasieanregend. Blink, Fiep, Schnarr, Kloing …

Where there is a city, there is always sound: the installation of a fictitious neighbourhood with all its facets, created from found objects, obscure instruments and sound generators of all kinds, made an impression at the last Festival für selbstgebaute Musik. Now Berliners can enjoy a more elaborate version of the original one for two days.
An experience for all fans of three-dimensional hidden object pictures. And it’s stimulating your imagination. Bling, beep, snarl!, cloink…

Bist du schon mal mit offenen Ohren durch deinen Kiez gelaufen? Welche Geräusche fallen dir auf? Aus welchen Klängen setzt sich der Sound Berlins zusammen? Zwischen Baulärm und Vogelzwitschern, Menschenmengen und Stadtverkehr sind wir im Getöse der Großstadt oft geneigt, uns von unseren Umgebungsgeräuschen abzuschotten. Dabei gibt es von versteckter Musik bis zu kleinen Ruhe-Oasen so viel zu entdecken.
Der „Klingende Kiez“ ist eine interaktive, spielbare Klanginstallation für Groß und Klein. Als kleines Stadtmodell bildet er Szenen ab, wie man sie auch in Berlin vorfindet: Hier zwitschern die Vögel im Park, drüben lärmt eine Baustelle und irgendwo ist wieder eine Demo …
Die Klangkünstler*innen Lisa Simpson (Agente Costura) und Julia Kotowski (Beltership) haben diese Installation aus gefundenen und gesammelten Dingen und einem Fundus kleiner selbstgebauter Instrumente gestaltet und laden euch nun dazu ein, diese kleine, lebendige Stadt eigenständig zu erkunden und gemeinsam als großes Instrument zu spielen. Der „Klingende Kiez“ lädt als interaktive Installation dazu ein, genau das zu tun: Vielerlei kleine Objekte versammeln sich hier, die auf unterschiedlichste Art klingen oder zum Klingen gebracht werden können. Manche davon ganz laut und offensichtlich, andere zaghaft und versteckt. Wie dieser kleine Modellkiez dabei als Ganzes klingt, liegt allein in deiner Hand.
Die Installation wurde für das Festival für Selbstgebaute Musik 2025 entwickelt. Am 19. und 20. Juni 2026 wird der Klingende Kiez erneut präsentiert im Projektraum studio54 in der Weserstraße 54 in Neukölln. Die zweitägige Installation lädt alle dazu ein, mitzuspielen. Der Abend am Freitag, dem 19. Juni, von 19 bis 22 Uhr, eignet sich für neugierige Erwachsene. Am Samstag, dem 20. Juni, klingt der Kiez schon ab 14 Uhr (und bis 20 Uhr). An diesem Nachmittag sind auch Kinder ab 6 Jahren herzlich eingeladen, auszuprobieren und zu entdecken.

Lisa Simpson – Agente Costura
Lisa Simpson ist Künstlerin, Performerin, Craftivistin, Näherin, Workshop-Leiterin, Instrumentebauerin und Klangkünstlerin. Ihr Performance-Projekt Agente Costura, das von einer singenden Nähmaschine geleitet wird, ist eine kontinuierliche Baustelle für selbstspielende, oszillierende, blinkende, berührungsempfindliche, lichtempfindliche, sprechende, weiche, gefundene, genähte, und gehackte Instrumente, die in einem ständig fluktuierenden Zustand des Chaos agieren und reagieren.
Lisa hat einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Bildender Kunst von der Universidade Tuiuti do Paraná, einen Master-Abschluss in Angewandter Kunst von der Emily Carr University of Art and Design und ist Absolventin des Instituts für Kunst im Kontext an der Universität der Künste Berlin. Sie hatte zahlreiche internationale Auftritte, unter anderem im Goethe Institut Jakarta, Schneidertempel Istanbul, Akademie der Künste, HKW, The Vancouver Art Gallery, den Münchner Kammerspielen, Bimhuis Amsterdam, Curitiba Fashion Week. Sie war Gast-Dozentin für Sound Studies an der UdK, sowie an der ZHdK in Zürich. Lisa lebt und arbeitet derzeit in Berlin und ist an einer Reihe unterschiedlicher Projekte in Zusammenarbeit mit Künstler*innen, Musiker*innen und dem interessierten Publikum beteiligt.
Julia Kotowski – Beltership
Die Arbeit von Julia Kotowski (*1986 in Köln) umfasst Illustration, Animation und visuelles Erzählen ebenso wie Musik und Sound. Ihr multidisziplinärer Ansatz kristallisierte sich im Studium an der Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln heraus: mit einem Bein im Trickfilm verwurzelt, mit dem anderen in Songwriting und Soundinstallation. Seit 2008 als Sängerin und Multiinstrumentalistin unter dem Namen Entertainment for the Brainead aktiv, verknüpft sie narrative Songstruktur, loopbasierte Liveperformance und immer wieder subtil experimentelle Elemente. Als Beltership entwickelt sie elektroakustische Instrumente aus Fundsachen, die sowohl als Klangquellen, aber auch als skulpturale Objekte funktionieren. Mit Performances an der Schnittstelle von Klangforschung und Materialästhetik schlägt das Projekt die Brücke zurück zu ihren Wurzeln in der akustischen Medienkunst.

In this solo exhibition, the academically trained artist Diana Achtzig presents a selection of abstract acrylic paintings in which color is not used as a decorative element, but as an immediate experience.
Achtzig’s works move between intuition and conscious decision-making. Within her abstract compositions, color unfolds an autonomous presence: it does not describe, it does not explain – it acts.
Without narrative reference points, the viewer’s gaze is no longer directed toward a subject, but toward the interplay of color fields, contrasts, and transitions. Perception becomes a physical experience—shifting between calm and tension, expansion and density.
The works specifically explore the psychological impact of color:
Turquoise opens and clarifies, white structures and calms, beige stabilizes. Gold creates attention and depth, while dark blue and dark green establish contemplative spaces. Pink introduces tension, emotional energy, and vulnerability.
The artistic process is shaped by layering, reduction, and precise intuition. Color does not emerge by chance, but as a condensed decision.
The exhibition invites viewers not to interpret color, but to experience it—as a direct form of visual and emotional communication.
Color is not decoration.
Color is impact.
Color is language.

Helmar is the new project of Berlin-based artist Marieke Helmke, who creates intimate indie pop with soft, direct vocals, tactile tape-warmed instrumentation and a psychedelic touch. Celebrating her cassette release, she will play stripped-backed versions of the upcoming album and new songs with her band Joni Saksala and Hakim Azmi.

DuChamp is an Italian scientist, musician and curator based in Berlin, religiously devoted to drone. Drone is related to a precise childhood memory: the sound of the hair dryer, that her mother used to fix her hair. That was the sound of care, bliss, and infinite love.

the official opening of studio54 takes place on January 30 and 31, with the showing of the work in progress „for malice“, and it tells a very personal story.
In 2023 my mother and I began working on an installation together, merging her ceramic sculptures with my sound art research. We experimented with feedback loops and the resonating frequencies of her ceramics. She was fascinated with the ocean and we imagined what it could sound like in the deep sea.
In 2024 she unexpectedly left this plane, much too early, too many unfinished projects left behind. I decided to keep working on out installation in her memory.
In 2025 I was honoured to receive the Senat Stipendium für KlangKunst to support me in continuing the research for this piece. Due to the circumstances, it became an intimate work about grief.
I am nervous to show this work to an audience. But it feels right to start the program of studio54 as a project space with this story. It‘s a vulnerable place. A place of memory, of care and of love. It talks about emotions that don‘t often find space, that we (in western society) are not equipped to deal with. It talks about sharing and collectiveness, and translates a healing process into sound waves and vibrations.
